Friends’ Book Sales

The Friends of the Anne West Lindsey District Library hold a spring and a fall book sale each year. Proceeds benefit the Summer Reading Program and other library initiatives. To learn more about becoming a member of the Friends, click here.

The book sales are coordinated and ran by volunteers. To volunteer to help during a book sale, please contact the library circulation desk.

Many items sold during the sale come from donations, which are very much appreciated! Donations are reviewed by staff to determine if they will go in the library’s collection or the book sales. To donate books or other reading or listening materials, please review the guidelines below. Also, please contact the library prior to dropping off donations to ensure staff are available to assist you.

Book Sale Donation Guidelines

  • Books should be in nearly new or gently used condition. We cannot accept donations that are damaged, yellowed, moldy, or water-stained.
  • Due to allergy concerns, we also cannot accept items that have been stored in damp or dusty locations such as attics, basements, storage units or garages.
  • Please avoid donating textbooks, outdated manuals, catalogs, magazines older than one year, atlases, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and VHS tapes. These items usually do not sell and end up having to be recycled/discarded by library staff.
